The New Dishley Society has published a new book for the 300th anniversary of the birth of Robert Bakewell of Dishley Grange, Loughborough.
It covers the Bakewell family history, Robert’s life and his work improving contemporary sheep, cattle and the local black horses which eventually became the Shire horse. The full story of Longhorn cattle, Bakewell’s bankruptcy and other matters are discussed. The book is a hardback, with 341 pages including colour and black and white illustrations.
