Beef Expo 2012, organised by the National Beef Association with Lloyds TSB Agriculture as major sponsors, will be centred around the Three Counties Showground at Malvern, Worcestershire on Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 May. The first day will see two farm tours in the local area, followed by the UK Genetics Showcase, before the annual Beef Expo Dinner. The showcase is a new concept allowing visitors from around the UK and further afield to catch a preview of the stunning cattle brought together for the event. There will be pedigree and commercial animals from the Breed Societies and top primestock beasts entered for the National Spring Spectacular Show held the next day.
The cattle judging will kick off first thing in the morning on Thursday 24 May with the main judging ring set among the massive range of trade stands and demonstrations from across the beef sector, all aimed at helping farmers maximise their enterprise profitability. Visitors will be able to learn about the latest developments in genetics, nutrition, husbandry, machinery and marketing to help them run an efficient and profitable beef farming business.
Other new features for this year include a Young Stock Stars competition, a more accessible Question Time and plans for a bigger Beef from the Dairy Herd exhibit and machinery demonstration area. Altogether, it is a ‘must attend’ event for every commercial and pedigree cattle breeder and producer in the UK, says Beef Expo chairman Paul Westaway, a farmer from Dymock, Gloucestershire.
If you are serious about cattle farming, you should mark May 23rd and 24th 2012 in your diary now, because there will not be another beef related event at any other venue, anywhere in the UK or even Europe, that can beat it,” he says.
The Longhorn Cattle Society will being exhibiting at this event, so please make sure to visit the stand if you are attending the event.

The Northern Longhorn Breeders Summer visit will be to HMP Kirham on Saturday 26 May 2012. The day will include some stock judging, a buffet lunch (no more than £10 per head) and a look at the Kirkham Herd which has gained such a good reputation in both the show and the sales rings over the last few years. We also hope to have a look at some of the other enterprises on site, and the work of Kirkham Prison.
Even though this is a Northern Breeders visit, the invitation is extended to all members of the Longhorn Cattle Society.
