Every animal forward at the Society's Spring Show & Sale at Worcester on Saturday 25 May was sold, with trade especially strong for bulls, with some would-be purchasers going home empty handed.

Clive's show report:
For some time positive accounts of The Northumberland Show had been received and so to be invited to it and judge the Longhorn classes was a double bonus. The show morning started overcast and developed to light showers by the time the Longhorns got underway, but no worries. Exhibitors and their helpers were enthusiastic and competitive competition ensued. The bull class was not strong but two developing youngsters paraded and their progress should be watched. The yearling heifer class was so well supported that it was split into two very competitive sections. Both divisions produced excellent winners. The senior heifers offered useful scope before the cow class well demonstrated the virtues of the breed with well-constructed entries demonstrating their productive nature. The Breed Champion came from this class in the form of John Close and Son Ltd's first calved heifer, Fishwick Queen Of The Ring with her promising calf at foot. It was rewarding to present the winner's ribbons to such an impressive individual and presented without being too excessively conditioned. This needs encouraging. The Reserve Championship went to David Walker's Newton Creme De La Creme, the February 2018 born leader of the oldest class of yearlings and the best of his well-presented team.
It was such a pleasure to be part of this enjoyable exhibition and the last cattle related class of the day was a triumph for Longhorn enthusiasts when Sarah Willey took the overall Reserve Championship in the Beef Young Handlers Competition. My thanks to everyone involved with the 2019 show and it will be good to get back to this developing event on another occasion
