Melton Mowbray Market
Dispersal of the Tanfield herd of pedigree Longhorns
Scalford Road, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, LE13 1JY
Saturday 28 May
For Mr & Mrs M&C Shearstone, Lodge Farm, Eastwell, Leicestershire
The original heifers were purchased in 2008 and their daughters remain in the herd, together with our main breeding lines of Linton, Raincliffe, Wellhead and Fishwick. The herd has enjoyed good sale and showing successes and currently have a good crop of spring calves and yearling heifers.
The herd had a clear TB Test on 10 May 2022 and has been a closed herd for over four years (with the purchase only of stockbull Riverlands Oink), and the farm has never recorded a TB failure of any description.
We do not vaccinate and have annually tested a random group of yearling calves for BVD, IBR, Johnes and Lepto. There has never been a confirmed case on the farm.
This is a genuine dispersal sale resulting from a road traffic accident last year and purchasers can buy with confidence.
