Bull minimum weight for age ready reckoner

Bulls that are proposed to be kept for breeding must be inspected by a practising veterinary surgeon prior to registration and a registration form completed. Application for registration should reach the Society office when the animal is between 365 and 800 days of age, or if the bull has reached the minimum weight of 431kg before it is 365 days old then registration may be applied for at that time.

From 1 June 2026 members who are in a certified grass-based or organic scheme (Pasture for Life, certified organic, whole farm HLS) can apply a 10% adjustment to the required weight to accommodate the specific requirements of those schemes.  Proof of current scheme or organisation membership to be provided to the Society at the time of registration.
