Tonight's episode of The Great British Food Revival was a treat for Native and Rare Breed cattle lovers, especially as Longhorn Cattle from both Wimpole Home Farm and Bob Williams were featured. John Torode cooked a beautiful Longhorn rib roast that looked mouthwatering.
The episode will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer after the repeat on Saturday 5 November.

Longhorn Cattle Society members Mark O'Brien and Liz Vice will feature on BBC1's Countryfile programme, to be broadcast on Sunday 11 September at 7.30pm. Mark is shown on the farm with the Longhorns and also at Monmouthshire Show where he receives the Wye Valley AONB Farming Award 2011.

The Traditional Beef Scheme, launched recently by Morrisons Supermarket in conjunction with Woodhead Bros and the Beef Shorthorn Cattle Society is paying a premium for purebred native or native sired finished cattle. Longhorns are being actively sought for the scheme.

Longhorn beef has won the coveted Special Diamond Award for Taste at the HEFF (Heart of England Fine Foods) Diamond Awards ceremony. Many congratulations to Martin Gilder of Martins Meats, Toddington, Glos.
The Schedule and entry forms for the Society's National Show & Sale at Stoneleigh Park on 12 and 13 August are now available to download from the 'Forms & Rules' section of the website. Closing date for entries is 15 July.

The Lincolnshire Agricultural Society is supporting Native British Breeds and encouraging exhibitors to continue to show the best of British at this year's Lincolnshire Show.
This year the Lincolnshire Show will be offering a Champion and Reserve Champion Rosette and Prize Card in the Interbreed Beef Championship classes for the highest and second highest scoring Native Breeds. These awards will be in both the Supreme Beef and the Junior Supreme Beef Championships.

On Saturday April 16th 2011 following the highly successful inaugural fair held in 2010, 20 members of the Provincial Booksellers Fairs Association (PBFA) are to hold a bookfair in the Case Building at Stoneleigh Park, Stoneleigh, Warwickshire, CV8 2LZ offering books relating to agriculture, gardening, country matters, ecology and natural history, added to which as cookery is related to food they will be joined by a specialist in Cookery books.

Cattle born or reared in the UK before 1 August 1996 have had new movement restrictions placed on them as an extra precaution against meat from these older cattle entering the food chain.
